The tool is built to last. It is made out of heat treated tool steel (A-2) that measures 65 Rockwell on the hardness scale, which is some of the strongest you can buy.

How to use the Groove Sharpener

1 Clean your club head with soap and water and wipe dry. Place masking tape on the toe and heel of the club, leaving the grooves exposed for servicing. This step is optional, it will keep from scratching the heel and toe of the club.

2 Place the shaft of the club on your shoulder and hold the head firmly in your hand. Place the desired end of the tool in the groove to be sharpened at about a 60-90 degree angle. Holding the tool in your dominant hand, apply firm downward pressure with your thumb, pushing the tool thru the grooves removing any nicks or rolled over metal. Repeat until the grooves are free of obstructions and sharp. If the grooves are severely damaged it may be easier to pull the sharpener thru the grooves instead of pushing it.

3 Make sure the tool is firmly seated in the bottom of the grooves. This will keep the walls of the grooves straight and sharp.

Note - It may take 10-20 minutes to recondition badly damaged clubs. Once you have the grooves sharpened it is easy to maintain them after every couple of rounds. Use the tool to clean the grooves in between hits.
